| Kim is the Executive Director of Viewpoints Research
Institute and a project manager at HP Labs. A media developer, media
critic, and cognitive scientist, she has been affliliated with Alan
Kay and his research team since 1986 with the Vivarium Project at
Apple¹s Advanced Tech Group.
A core member of the "Squeak Central" team since Squeak¹s
inception in 1996, Kim primarily focuses on applying new technologies
and media in creative ways to enrich learning environments for children
and adults.
She works with children and teachers in a variety of schools and
community learning centers developing and testing Squeak-based collaborative
dynamic curriculum and exploring how powerful ideas can become more
accessible to children around the world.
In 1995, she was invited by Neil Postman to be a visiting scholar
at NYU's Media Ecology Department to share her work with students
and faculty.
Publications:
Kim co-edited "Squeak - Open Personal Computing and Multimedia"
with Mark Guzdial. The book was published by Prentice-Hall/Pearson
in July 2001.
Kim recently completed an Etoy projects book with BJ Allen-Conn.
